Constraints from the Damping Tail
نویسنده
چکیده
The detection of anisotropy in the cosmic microwave background on arcminute scales by the Cosmic Background Imager (CBI) provides us with our first measurement of the damping tail and closes one chapter in the CMB story. We now have experimental verification for all of the features in the temperature anisotropy spectrum predicted theoretically two decades ago. The CBI result allows us to constrain both parameterized models based on the inflationary cold dark matter (CDM) paradigm and to examine model independent constraints on the matter content, the distance to last scattering and the thickness of the last scattering surface. By providing a lower limit on the duration of recombination it implies a lower limit on the polarization of the sub-degree scale anisotropy which is close to current experimental upper

In this paper the effect of tail form on maneuverability of autonomous underwater vehicle is investigated. In the beginning, tail form is defined using a mathematical function dependent on two parameters including length of the tail and its cone angle. Then the effect of these two parameters on the hydrodynamic coefficients and maneuverability is investigated respectively. Hydrodynamic damping ...
متن کاملInvestigation on Nose and Tail Shape Effects on Hydrodynamic Parameters in Autonomous Underwater Vehicles
Development of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) which meets the design constraints and provides the best hydrodynamic performance is really an important challenge in the field of hydrodynamics. In this paper a new profile is used for designing the hull of AUVs. The nose and tail profiles of an AUV using presented profile is designed such that it can properly consider the length constraints...
متن کاملPerformance Comparison of Hybrid Protection Methods in Weakening coast Waves
Considering the strategic importance of coastal areas from various aspects, their protection against waves is a coast management necessity. Since long ago, strong coastal structures have protected coasts, but since they disturb the coastal ecosystem balance, effort has been made to use them less or make them more compatible with the coast. This research is specifically aimed to estimate the eff...
متن کاملDamping of the Transverse Head-Tail Instability by Periodic Modulation of the Chromaticity
An analytical and numerical study of the suppression of the transverse head-tail instability by modulating the chromaticity over a synchrotron period is presented. We find that a threshold can be developed, and it can be increased to a value larger than the strong head-tail instability threshold. The stability criterion derived agrees very well with the simulations. The underlying physical mech...
